Retooling The Sox Part One Catcher Situation

In the early early stages of the off season, I have some wishes. The first thing I would do is move Varitek. Buy him out, trade him whatever. A team cant have two catchers who cant throw anyone out. Two thoughts on this, one wait for Joe Mauer, who's favorite ballpark is Fenway, when he becomes a free agent, or trade for someone. My vote would be to trade for Yorvit Torrealba. The Rockies would like Chris Ianetta to be their regular catcher and they would trade or release Yorvie. I dont think they want to have his 4 million dollar option. He is a decent catcher defensively and he provides timely hits. He became a spark in the last few weeks of the Rockies run for the playoffs.
Another stop gap measure is Benjie Molina from the Giants nice pop with 20 home runs and 80 rbi with .265 BA. above average behind the plate. Brian Schneider would make a good third catcher and could spell V-Mart at times has some pop and handles pitchers well.

I know Josh Beckett would not think this is a good move since Tek is his boy but enough is enough. Hang it up Jason you would make an excellent coach.
There still are a ton of catchers with the Rangers that would be another option.I personaly believe V-Mart needs to be the first baseman. We just need to improve defensively. In 2011 Joe Mauer becomes a free agent, I would do whatever it toook to woo him to Beantown but I would wait and not give up the farm.
Just some of my thoughts on this cold October night without Sox baseball.
