The Stretch Run

It is going to be a tight race down the stretch. Looking at the schedules, the Texas Rangers have an easier schedule from now til the end of the season

Boston struggles at times with inconsitency, the starters have not looked like they want to clench a playoff spot but the relievers are showing some signs of taking it all seriously. I have some concerns about the lineup as well. Varitek had only 7 hits in August, Martinez struggled at times, Lowell is not getting the playing time. I have some major concerns.

Beckett must be close to some kind of record for giving up home runs in consecutive games, Byrd looked good the first game but horrible the second, Lester is in the odd role of the ace of the staff right now and the youngters Clay and Junichi must step up.

I do like the bench strength, lots of versatility, I do think the things that will help Boston down the stretch in the race for wild card are bench strength, bullpen strength, and coaching. The most important factor for the Sox is the nation. Lets go out there and give them the 1oth man. We can do it.
