Red Sox at Oakland, Series Recap

Oakland wins series 2-1.

Winning Pitchers: Braden(1-1), Gallagher(1-0), Wakefield (1-1)

Losing Pitchers: Lester(0-2), Lopez(0-1), Anderson (0-2)

Game One: Oakland 8, Boston 2. Jon Lester had his second straight bad outing, going six innings with ten hits and six earned runs. The offense had only six hits, all of them off the starter Braden who went six innings.

Game Two: Oakland 6, Boston 5 in 12 innings. Daisuke Matsuzaka, staked to a three run lead in the first inning, immediately gave it up in the bottom half of the inning allowing five Oakland runs to cross the plate. Justin Masterson pitched very well in relief, throwing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts. The Sox eventually tied the game in the fifth but scored no more runs the rest of the night, leaving fourteen men on base. Daisuke has since been put on the 15 day DL.

Game Three: Boston 8, Oakland 2. Tim Wakefield threw seven and a third no-hit innings and the offense finally came alive with six eight innning runs. Mike Lowell and J.D. Drew hit home runs.
